  • Responsible for regional oversight of the accounting and reporting relating to the racing operations of Mahoning and Dayton.  Including supervision of the Racing Accountant (multi-property).  
  • Assists in the month-end close process to ensure financial statements are accurate and thorough with direct responsibility for revenue related close functions and other non-centralized categories
  • Primary property liaison with centralized accounting personnel.  
  • Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial information.
  • Completes timely and accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis for those assigned. Responsible for researching and resolving account variances within a timely period.
  • Responsible for maintenance and oversight of the property (Dayton and Columbus) Sarbanes Oxley process ensuring that the SOX narratives are maintained and updated to support the SOX baselines framework.   Ensuring annual and other updates are properly updated. 
  • Primarily property liaison with external auditors ensuring that audit requests are accurately fulfilled and explained as necessary.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate filing of tax payments and reports in accordance with government regulations.
  • Produces monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and ad hoc financial reports.
  • Assists with capital expenditure management including producing the monthly report tracking report. 
  • Responsible for centralized scheduling function at the property. Creates effective and efficient schedules, while maintaining labor costs.
  • On occasion, will assist with the creation and distribution of the daily operating reports (Flash and/or DOR) for both Dayton and Columbus.
  • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Provides support and assistance with the property budgeting and forecasting process as assigned.
  • Will assist with other accounting duties as assigned.
  • On an ongoing basis assist in maintaining Internal Controls including updating and making recommendations that meet regulatory standards and company baselines.
  • Maintains organized set of detailed records and files to document financial transactions.
  • Assists in the budget process for the department and provide recommendations; ensuring compliance to departmental budget initiatives
  • Travel to other assigned locations as needed.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.  Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise.  Responsible for the overall achievement of department customer service goals.    
  • Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to Executive Management / GM.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
  • Responsible for staff development and training programs.
  • Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.
  • Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regards to performance.
  • Provides recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs.
  • Manages work procedures and expedites workflow.
  • Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).


  • Must be 21 or older.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Accounting or Finance from accredited four-year college or university
  • 3-5 years of related experience.  Preferably, a portion of which in a leadership capacity.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of financial software systems.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Self-motivated; ability to operate in a mentally and physically stressful situation.
