WE LOVE OUR WORK.

  • Examines vehicle and discusses with Lead Motor Pool Mechanic the extent of damage or malfunction.
  • Plans work procedure.
  • Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.
  • Removes unit such as engine, transmission, or differential.
  • Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.
  • Repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
  • Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
  • Rebuilds parts such as crankshafts and cylinder blocks.
  • Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.
  • Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.
  • Mends damaged body and fenders by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts.
  • Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
  • Makes necessary repairs to tires of all sizes, balancing and patching required.
  • Operates company vehicle(s) transporting to servicing or to retrieve parts at local dealershipe/parts stores. (Valid drivers license required.)

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. -
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside. 
  • In addition to the pre-employment background check, this position will be subject to periodic checks of your driving record in order to determine your continued suitability to drive company and/or patron vehicles.
