Key Objectives:

  • Reach company goals and maintain company standards and policies.
  • Responsible for providing exceptional Customer Service to all guests.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides information and assistance to customers in a friendly, courteous manner to ensure the delivery of guest service. Offer information on activities, etc., and direct guests for further information as necessary.
  • Create and enter player tracking cards on-site, online, and digitally.
  • Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs.
  • Maintain a cash bank for his/her shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessary.
  • Exchanges cash and coins in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain and reconcile bank for assigned shift, following established cash-handling policies and procedures. Counts down bank or window at end of each shift and reconciles.
  • Completes all required shift paperwork according to internal control standards.
  • Records any applicable cash transactions that are required by Federal Law.
  • Issues and receives payments.
  • Cash personal and travelers checks in compliance with approved procedures.
  • Process lottery transactions with approved procedures.
  • Efficiently and accurately processes all pari-mutuel wagers in the tote system.
  • Explain wagering rules, including betting lines and odds, and procedures to guests.
  • Write, verify, and make payments on tickets for sports wagers in accordance with department policy and procedures and ensures compliance to applicable jurisdictional gaming statues and regulations.
  • Write Sports tickets in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Knowledge of and enforcement of all gaming laws and regulations which apply to the functions and duties.
  • Manages guest situations; Responds promptly to guest needs; Seeks guest feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance; Meets commitments.
  • Stocks stations with adequate supplies; keeps all stations neat and clean.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • General cashiering background or prior money handling experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in race and sportsbook preferred.
  • Working knowledge of sports.
  • Knowledge of tote system to place customer bets.
  • Efficiency and accuracy when entering guests wagers and paying out winners.
  • Variances within standards according to department variance policy.
  • Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions when required.
  • Ability to learn and comply with department, property and regulatory policy and procedure.
  • Other duties, as needed.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

 

Education and/or Experience: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.
  • Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of America money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Possess ability to operate an adding machine and have basic computer skills.

 

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Penn National Gaming’s auto insurance carrier.
