- Provide veterinary advice to Stewards on the health, welfare and fitness of race horses - Shall be in attendance during training and racing hours - Shall be in attendance at scratch time to verify vet scratches and make reports to the Racing Officials as promptly as possible - Making pre race assessments in the paddock before each race and post-race assessments of the horses, providing advice to stewards - Provide emergency care to horses on track and if required euthanize - Maintaining loss of incidents, injuries report - This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and team members may also be asked to perform other reasonable related duties as assigned. - Must be 21 years of age - Must hold a Veterinary license in the state of New Mexico and be in good standing - Must be approved by the New Mexico State Racing Commission - Must be licensed the New Mexico State Racing Commission - Must have a thorough knowledge of the New Mexico Racing Laws and Rules - Must have thorough knowledge of Thoroughbred horses - Must be able to work in various weather conditions - Excellent communication skills - Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy - Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues - Able to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environment - Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 60 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces
