• The position of Silks Coordinator will be filled by an individual with extensive experience with jockey’s room operations and procedures.
• Will have previous experience as a Racing Official or other relevant capacity and be able to assist with policies and procedures relating to the safe guard of racing silks. 
• Individual will oversee the safe guard of all racing silks left to the care of the jockey’s room, to include receipt of silks from owners and trainers, cataloging silks with identification peg number, and return of silks upon request by the owner or trainer.
• Pull and set silks for each racing performance, laundry of silks, and return of silks to appropriate identification peg number.  

• Must have held a thoroughbred racing license for a minimum of three years and be fluent with racing and racing office terminology and operations.
• Must be capable of working with Window based computer systems.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with horsemen and employees of the organization. 
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. 
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. 
• Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, walk, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and talk and hear.
• The employee frequently required to sit.
• The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms to stoop, knell, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions which, at time, will be inclement.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
