This position is responsible for all aspects of purchasing, receiving, warehouse, and inventory management functions at the L’Auberge Baton Rouge property level.  The incumbent will ensure that L’Auberge receives best value for its purchases and contracts, that there are consistent and adequate availability of goods and services, and maintain standards that are compliant with regulatory and internal requirements.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

(The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all-inclusive for specific positions.)

 

• Responsible for all procurement and contract service needs of the property.
• Leads local procurement and distribution strategies to complement regional and national strategies, plans,
and agreements, and coordinates with the regional and national offices to ensure that the property is accurately represented and included in all sourcing activity.
• Ensures a constant drive for excellence through high standards of service, productive partnerships with
internal stakeholders, and through the supply base.
• Establishes effective communication and collaborative processes with key internal stakeholders. Coordinates with user departments to understand needs and anticipate/resolve issues.
• Manages automated systems and appropriate data/information, monitors all inventory levels, participates in periodic inventory counts, and reports on variances to maintain integrity of the inventory.
• Monitors safety practices and makes necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Monitors and reports on supplier performance to ensure high quality, on time delivery, fill rates, and service standards.
• Schedules shipments in and out of property ensuring adequate supplies.
• Coordinates salvage programs to identify unused goods for disposition (sale, gift, internal transfer, etc.) in
order to minimize storage needs and financial burden of unused goods.
• Interviews/Hires, trains, motivates, evaluates, and supervises staff to ensure that all employees receive adequate guidance, coaching, and resources to perform their jobs and achieve department objectives.
• Responsible for supervising and managing staff in the Purchasing & Warehouse departments.
• Develops, implements, and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and cost savings objectives.
• Creates effective and efficient schedules, while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives and achieving deadlines
• Responsible for assisting in the budget process for the department and providing recommendations; ensuring compliance with departmental budget initiatives; reporting to appropriate leadership.
• Responsible for monitoring and supporting diversity spending initiatives.
• Procuring and expediting of all material and services while recommending alternatives for consideration
• Monitors results of department/function through inspection, evaluation, and analysis. Makes changes as necessary to achieve optimum efficiency.
• Ensures that the procurement process is operating in an effective manner to ensure the greatest benefit as it
relates to the bidding process, terms of contract and negotiations with vendors, while maintaining compliance
with state regulations and internal controls.
• Develops new supply source where vendors are inadequate.
• Audits procurement documentation on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Reports potential issues to leadership.
• Identifies and implements economic savings and synergies across properties as appropriate.
• Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs. Ensures customer service standards are followed by all
team members and addresses issues as they arise. Responsible for the overall achievement of department
customer service goals.
• Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
• Reports to property daily. (non-remote position)


QUALIFICATIONS
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) in Business, Finance, or related field from four-year college or university; five years progressive procurement experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred, and/or
• At least 5 years' experience in supply chain or procurement with significant demonstrated responsibility in purchasing, receiving, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain valid gaming licenses.
• Solid working knowledge of strategic sourcing and purchasing with particular emphasis on food & beverage, facilities maintenance, hospitality and gaming supplies and services.
• Demonstrated ability in working plans across multiple business units.
• Computer literate and possess supervisory and interpretative skills.
• Ability to successfully balance and execute against multiple projects and priorities with often competing priorities.
• Effective and demonstrated skills in communication, negotiation, managing by influence, and coaching.
• Ability to motivate, direct, and communicate effectively with coworkers and employees.
• Must be able to travel frequently if responsible for multiple properties.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This job has supervisory responsibilities.
• Responsible for staff development and training programs.
• Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.
• Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees regarding performance.
• Determines recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs.
• Determines work procedures and expedites workflows.
• Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English are required.

 

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply deductive reasoning with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations to make a sound decision.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations in all managing jurisdictions.
