Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. WE LOVE OUR WORK.

  • Observes start and activates stopwatch to time horse training workout.
  • Observes horse crossing pole markers denoting fractional parts and finish line of workout to note and record time elapsed.
  • Register the horse training workouts with the track Racing Secretary and enters the workouts into the computerized database that places the workouts in the daily program.
  • Responsible to work with the Racing Secretary and Stewards to alert trainers which horses may require workouts in order to enter the race, if that horse has been idle from racing and training for more than 30 days.
  • Must operate several stop watches at one time and accurately record the workouts down to the hundredths of a second.
  • Must be available seven days a week for horse training workouts.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have impeccable distance vision.
