This position is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the Company's needs for indirect materials and services. In addition, this position coordinates item specifications with departments.

 

This position is responsible for the procurement of multiple casino properties - L’Auberge Casino Resort- Lake Charles,  L’Auberge Casino Hotel -Baton Rouge, Boomtown Casino & Hotel - New Orleans, Margaritaville Resort & Casino -Bossier City, Boomtown Casino & Hotel -Bossier City and Sam Houston Race Park – Houston - and sits at the L'Auberge Baton Rouge property.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Assisting supervisor to ensure bidding procedures are followed in compliance with procurement goals
  • Communicating with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Monitoring inventories for shortages and overstocks and keeps supervisor and others with a need to know, such as inventory control/warehouse management staff and those affected, informed
  • Assisting in the communication and disposal of overstock items
  • Ensuring quality and quantity of received goods compared to purchase order and takes action, if necessary
  • Communicating regularly with supervisor, and internal customers
  • Focusing on continuous improvement of quality assets and services
  • Managing and maintaining product sourcing and bid searching
  • Assisting in cost control and savings program
  • Ensuring that all products are transferred correctly, and documentation is maintained using departmental software system
  • Overseeing and maintaining the software system item database and all ordering forms
  • Participating in continuing product and systems trainings
  • Communicating all pertinent information to supervisor and the internal customers
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned
  • Ensures the financial delivery of the agreed upon savings goals to be established for each functional area within procurement.
  • Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to the Regional director of Procurement.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set:

  • High school or GED AND three (3) years buying, expediting, and other directly related purchasing and hospitality experience required
  • Associates degree in related field, preferred
  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of materials, products, and the commodity market in area of specialization
  • Skill in preparing and analyzing complex technical specifications, bids, and proposals
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software and Stratton Warren procurement and inventory software
  • Possess excellent listening skills
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Skill in exercising independent judgment and initiative
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and vendors
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and timelines simultaneously, work effectively in a fast paced, pressure-filled environment and be self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Ability to resolve problems and/or conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations pertaining to the position
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
