Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for the effective operation of the HR department as well as the implementation and measurement of HR strategies. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contributes to the business strategy by helping business leaders to identify, prioritize, and build organizational capabilities.
  • Supports line managers in forecasting and planning their talent pipeline requirement in line with the function/business strategy
  • Facilitates long-term initiatives aligned with the company’s strategic agenda
  • Provides advice and coaching to team members when appropriate.
  • Reviews and benchmarks the internal and external environment to improve HR policies and initiatives.
  • Identifies new opportunities where HR can add value to the business.
  • Maintains a strong knowledge of progressive HR practices and key trends.
  • Manages projects and initiatives to meet department/company objectives and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Develops and promote feedback mechanisms for team members to influence the continuous improvement of HR services and processes.
  • Ensures that a strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the company.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains team members. Plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and corrects performance issues; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
  • Develops and manages HR operating budget.
  • Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff.   Maintains harmony among staff and resolves grievances.
  • Maintains complete confidentiality of all company information at all times.
  • Performs all job duties in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by department and/or company management.
  • Educates and coaches managers and team members on business and HR processes, policies, effective practices, and systems.
  • Provides guidance and counsel to management concerning corrective actions, terminations, and other team member problems and issues; ensures compliance with governmental laws and regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  • Conducts investigations of team member complaints of the client department and handles grievances and arbitrations if applicable.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement recruitment and training strategies to achieve and maintain a talented, skilled workforce.

Qualifications

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in a human resources or operations role is required, including hiring, managing and separating employees.
  • 52 years of management experience.

Language Skills:                                             

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various metrics, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to effectively present information to senior management.  Must be highly skilled in communicating via written and verbal formats. Good oral and written communication skills, must be fluent and literate in English 

 

Mathematical Skills:                                                   

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to understand and analyze Budget & P&L Statements

 

Reasoning Ability:                                                      

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:         

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word) is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • HR Certification (HCI or SHRM) is preferred.
  • A valid and current driver's license is required.

Other Skills and Abilities:              

  • Proficiency with responding to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, and community members.
  • Proficiency in presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, employees, and guests and other internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to operate in a highly confidential environment.
  • Proven managerial and problem solving skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment within established policies.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on limited data and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and employee relations skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions in stressful situations with co-workers, guests and vendors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to promote cooperative approach between departments.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
