WE LOVE OUR WORK.

  • Responsible for providing guidance and daily supervision to staff in the Sports Book department. Supports and administers operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives.
  • Adheres to scheduling and coordinates with manager any scheduling concerns, with attention to guest satisfaction.
  • Responsible for supporting compliance to departmental budgets.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.  Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise. 
  • Closes out Tellers at the end of their shifts, and ensure that all money has been accounted for and turned into the cage. Reports variances to Manager.
  • Verifies cash drawers, completes reports, and monitors race and sports book for suspicious activity.  Reports issues to Manager.
  • Cashes and sells pari-mutuel tickets to guests as needed.
  • Prepares and stocks all daily race and sports sheets.
  • Ensures compliance with currency transaction requirements, Title 31, and money laundering and Suspicious Activity Reporting for Casinos (SARC) requirements.
  • Assists in conducting pre-shift meetings to relay pertinent information on assigned shift.
  • Assists in cross training of Team Members while encouraging, reinforcing, and supporting peers and team.
  • Explains wagering rules, including betting lines and odds, and procedures to guests as needed.
  • Notifies Manager of escalated or prevalent guest issues/concerns and any apparent suspicious activity.
  • Approves and denies wagers from guest within established guidelines.  Reports issues to Manager.
  • Updates and maintains all customer sheets.
  • Monitors all monies being wagered and updates the betting odds according to established guidelines.
  • Handles guest disputes quickly and effectively within the level of their authority.
  • Promotes safety awareness to minimize work related injuries.
  • Maintains knowledge of property information.
  • Assists Manager with all aspects of Sports Book operations, including monitoring of simulcast.
  • Ensures compliance to company policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements or restrictions.
  • Assists Manager with administrative duties, as assigned.
  • Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to management.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.

  • High school diploma or GED required; two years of related experience in racing or gaming; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of a sports book and racing operation.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).           
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to work independently, identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
