WE LOVE OUR WORK.

The systems administrator supports and maintains the Company’s Microsoft Windows network environment.  This position is the primary technical support resource for many operating areas of the Company, including vital internal business process applications and some revenue generating applications.  

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee administration, installation and maintenance of the Company’s non-AS/400 computer and network assets, including server and related hardware, operating system software, third-party application software, data, and interfaces to other systems
  • Maintain application and operating system configurations and user accounts and privileges, both within the Microsoft Active Directory environment and within individual stand-alone applications
  • Plan, document, implement and maintain system security procedures and practices to safeguard the Company’s vital data against unauthorized access, tampering, or destruction 
  • Plan, document, implement and maintain system data backup procedures and practices including tape rotation schedules, offsite storage, and regular testing of backup media
  •  Monitor High-Availability environments for certain systems, including daily and weekly checks as well as routine testing of backup system/duty cycle rotation of systems
  •  In coordination with IT Manager and other IT staff, plan, document, implement and maintain the Disaster Recovery Plan, including routine testing/practice of DR Plan procedures as they relate to non-iSeries assets
  •  Monitor system and application performance
  • Recommend and implement performance tuning (optimization) strategies as well as capacity planning for growth or changes in business needs, and planning for life-cycle replacement of assets
  • Analyze and recommend creation or changes to department procedures or policies to demonstrate and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards including Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Illinois gaming laws/ Illinois Gambling Control Board regulations, Internal Control documents and IT industry-standard “Best Practices” 
  • Receive record, resolve, and follow up on end-user problems or system malfunctions with iSeries and noniSeries resources
  • Maintain records of problem reports, resolution, and follow-up in the IT helpdesk software application
  • Work with other IT staff in first-level or second-level support of many non-AS/400 systems or IT services, including wide-ranging general IT support issues
  • Stay informed on new technologies with a view towards integrating them into the Company’s IT strategies
  • Demonstrate expertise in a variety of IT concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Plan and accomplish goals relying on extensive experience and best judgment

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be age 21
  • Technical Degree in Computer Sciences
  • 3-5 years related experience in iSeries (AS400) operations and administration, with relevant technical certifications or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • IBM certification preferred
  • Additional demonstrable knowledge or experience in other IT related areas is preferred such as Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Cisco LAN/WAN administration, converged voice/data networks (VOIP)
