Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. WE LOVE OUR WORK.

  • Enforce the Pennsylvania Rules of Racing while on the racecourse, writing reports of all violations that take place while on duty.
  • Maintain safety of the track and verify that all safety equipment required to be worn by those entering the racetrack for exercising or racing is being worn.
  • Ensure that all horses arrive at the starting gate at the designated time for post time for each race.
  • Catch any loose horses on the track while on duty.
  • Approve all applicants wishing to obtain a license to exercise or pony horses on the racetrack. 
  • Provide professional representation at internal and external meetings and events.
  • Demonstrate abilities to meet performance expectations with Communications, initiative/Problem Solving, Guest Service/interpersonal Relations, Work Habits and Conduct, and Responsible Gaming/Business Ethics.
  • Ensure interactions with internal and external guests follow the guidelines of the customer service program.
  • Adhere to all Corporate and local policies, procedures, and operating guidelines.
  • The person in this role has no supervisory responsibilities; however, in the absence of a supervisor, they may be asked to: Answer routine questions from co-workers
  • Lead completion of daily tasks within the department or work unit
  • Interact with others when necessary to achieve desired outcomes

BRING US YOUR BEST.

  • 2-3 years of experience; experience as an Outrider, exercise rider or combination of riding experience and handling of horses. 
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests and regulatory agencies.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and manuals.
  • Must have the ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and guests.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations.
  • Must have the ability to write reports.
  • Multilingual, preferred. 
  • Must have the ability to perform basic math skills 
  • Must have the ability to identify problems, collect data, analyze, and draw valid conclusions
  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions (i.e., written, oral, etc.)
