Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating and supporting the purchase of F&B products.  
  • Maintain positive company image and supplier relations through timely supplier contact. Represent the company and properties through supplier relations to ensure vendors consistently perform at a level exceeding the properties’ expectations. Responsible for expanding preferred supplier programs to where the financial and operational impact is most advantageous to the properties and region. 
  • Monitor and control costs to ensure costs are within expectations, effectively communicate pricing challenges to appropriate stakeholders
  • Abide by and enforces ethical practices in all dealings with vendors through ensuring all vendor relations are devoid of any business practices which could be deemed as questionable business conduct.  
  • Assists in the development and dissemination of detailed food and beverage specifications through appropriate research and by working to effectively communicate with the properties’ Food and Beverage Team, Strategic Sourcing Food and Beverage Contract Team 
  • Efficient understanding and ability to effectively utilize the Coupa purchasing system, as well as the US Foods, Sysco Shop, and Food Buy programs.
  • Represent the Companies national agreements, educating stakeholders on advantages of contract compliance and utilization  
  • Develops and analyzes price and supply data to inform the food and beverage operations. 
  • Maintains consistent and accurate purchase and price data within the Coupa system.  
  • Prepares bid lists, evaluate bid documents, competitive bidding practices, processes requisitions, places purchase orders as appropriate and, in conjunction with properties’ AP department processes on-line pricing variances to conclusion.  
  • Communicate with stakeholders and suppliers to manage delivery expectations
  • Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to the Regional Director of Procurement.
  • Make recommendations on the use of alternate materials or products.  
  • Schedule delivery of products and services with vendors and maintain a high level of fill-rate ratios.  
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
  • From time to time purchase items unrelated to Food and Beverage
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High school or GED AND three (3) years buying, expediting, and other directly related purchasing and hospitality experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, preferred
  • Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of materials, products, and the commodity market in area of specialization
  • Skill in preparing and analyzing complex technical specifications, bids, and proposals
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Experience with Coupa or similar online ERP systems
  • Knowledge of supplier software (US Foods, Sysco Shop, NPC, Food Buy, etc)
  • Possess excellent listening skills
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Skill in exercising independent judgment and initiative
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and vendors
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and timelines simultaneously, work effectively in a fast paced, pressure-filled environment and be self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Ability to resolve problems and/or conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Strong background and knowledge of food & beverage products, manufacturers, distributors, commodities and standard purchasing procedures and practices preferred; thorough understanding of purchasing, supply chain and line of supply procedures and practices. Understanding of group purchasing organizations and how to leverage (GPO)

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                     

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
