SUMMARY

The Sales Manager is responsible for procuring group and corporate business for the hotel, casino/hotel motor coach, food and beverage events and for handling all aspects of this business; handling all arrangements needs for groups when they are here with appropriate departments as required.  This position is responsible for collection of advance deposit, billing and collections.

 

Responsible for the overall operation of the banquet areas, catering related to marketing events, and internal functions including but not limited to scheduling, training, planning, assigning and directing work, rewarding, coaching and counseling of Banquet and Motor Coach Cast Members in order to assist in reaching profitability, guest satisfaction, workforce strength and compliance goals.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and promoting a positive attitude to create a fun and entertaining experience for our guests and Cast Members.  
  • Actively procures group and corporate business for the hotel and meeting rooms by any and all means available including but not limited to net working with trade associations, professional organizations, corporations, tour and travel organizations and cold calls.  Follows up on all inquiries from internal/external guests needs in both verbal and written forms of communication expediently.
  • Respond timely to all RFP’s (Request for Proposals) submitted by CVB (Convention and Visitor’s Bureau) and local agencies and associations
  • Conducts tours of the facility and meets with prospective clients
  • Individual is responsible for coordinating all motor coach line runs, junkets, etc., and all related offers with food and beverage casino club and marketing departments.
  • Responsible for coordinating and handling all arrangements for groups functions.  Booking of functions, appropriate menu planning, room set up and tear down and other special needs for the group such as golf outings and transportation.
  • In coordination with Director of Hospitality, sets pricing so that this business is profitable for all business units.
  • Individual is responsible for communicating group and motor coach activity across departmental lines within the property for the successful completion of a group stay, including but not limited to distribution of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and group resumes.
  • Works closely with Marketing to assist in the coordination of all internal marketing events utilizing banquet space and banquet services
  • Must be able to develop proficiency with the front office property management systems (LMS) and  Caterease, Opentable and Catering software to produce, manage and update all BEO’s
  • Set up group room blocks within LMS and Delphi, monitor progress through contracted cut off dates
  • Responsible for hiring and scheduling, training and supervision of banquet and motor coach staff
  • Orders and inventories all supplies related to banquet and group business
  • Develop and monitor budget related to group business.
  • Prepares group sales contracts and performs credit checks.
  • Implements and monitors controls designed to assure full compliance with federal, state, corporate and property mandates.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent preferred.  Minimum of three to five years related experience in hotel sales, group sales or catering management.  Individual must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, LMS, Caterease, Opentable or similar catering and reservation Software.

High School diploma or GED required.  This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and promoting a positive attitude to create a fun and entertaining experience for our guests and Cast Members. Must understand and speak the English language.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Individual must have ability to read, analyzes, and interprets routine business documents.  Individual must have ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Individual must have ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.  Must be very detailed oriented.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Individual must have ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Individual must have ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
