SUMMARY

The ESPN Sports Bar General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sports bar, ensuring exceptional guest experience, maximizing revenue, and leading a high-performing team. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a passion for hospitality in a fast-paced, energetic environment.

 

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Oversee daily operations, including food & beverage service and guest relations.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, ambiance, and readiness for peak events (e.g., major games, tournaments).
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Drive sales through promotions, events, and community engagement.
  • Control costs by monitoring labor, inventory, and vendor contracts.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment with high standards of accountability.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement development plans.
  • Ensure prompt, professional, and friendly service at all times.
  • Handle guest concerns and resolve issues quickly to maintain satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Create a lively and welcoming atmosphere tailored to sports fans and casual diners alike.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote events, specials, and game-day experiences.
  • Build partnerships with local organizations, leagues, and community groups.
  • Monitor industry trends to keep offerings competitive and appealing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                     

This job has supervisory responsibilities:

  • Responsible for staff development and training programs.
  • Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.
  • Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regard to performance.
  • Determines recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs.
  • Manages work procedures and expedites workflow.
  • Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent from four year college or university; or four years related supervisory or managerial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (sports bar or high-volume venue preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage operations, including craft beer, cocktails, and menu pairing.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

  • Excellent motivational, communication and customer service skills required
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook programs.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, drive revenue, and control costs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-energy, guest-centric environment.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

STARTING SALARY

$75,000 to $85,000 annually, based on experience.
