*REMOTE POSITION*

 

The Capital Assets Accountant is responsible to perform fixed asset accounting functions of closing CIP projects to fixed assets, tracking and closing PO’s related to capital projects, enter assets in Oracle, prepare cost segregations as applicable, prepare reconciliations, generate monthly depreciation/amortization reports and journal entries, and update routine and ad hoc reports. The Accountant must exercise effective communication skills, exhibit strong cost accounting acumen, collaborating effectively with team members located in different offices throughout the US, and offer suggestions and support for improving practices and processes within a dynamic environment.

 

  • Review CIP project costs to ensure cost are applicable to project and PO’s are fully paid, when project is complete and all costs incurred, close out project costs and enter costs as assets in Oracle fixed asset system.
  • Verify PO’s are fully received or follow up to address remaining outstanding commitments.  
  • Prepare cost segregations for larger / more complex projects for creation of assets.
  • Prepare fixed asset disposal and asset transfer journal entries with proper documentation from properties ensuring all Oracle books are recorded appropriately.
  • Function as a Strong User of the Oracle Fixed Assets and Project Accounting applications, understanding all fields to be populated for the asset records and ensuring all books – including GAAP and other Tax books, are updating accurately.
  • Prepare depreciation and amortization journal entries for all applicable assets generating the applicable Oracle report and validating the monthly amounts.
  • Prepare monthly asset roll-forwards for the properties as applicable and directed by Senior or Manager.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of CIP, and fixed asset accounts ensuring support documentation and subsidiary ledger detail ties to general ledger and ARCS balances.
  • Perform other accounting, analysis, or requested work as needed by Capex Seniors or Managers.
  • Provide support for internal and external audit requests, including sales/use tax audit and property tax requests, coordinating/managing/tracking the preparation of requested documentation and analyses.
  • Communicate proactively with other Capex Staff, Seniors, Managers and Director and Outside Team Members as applicable for all Capex related activities.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and understanding of monthly, quarterly and year end close processes.
  • Working knowledge and experience of job cost accounting system and fixed asset tax system preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud suite. General Ledger, Projects, Account Reconciliation.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills helpful.
  • Ability to work in a high stress, fast paced environment managing multiple tasks, projects and personnel simultaneously with a positive, approachable demeanor. Must possess ability to prioritize conflicting duties for self and accounting department while maintaining timeline integrity for projects and tasks.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision/oversight by anticipating next steps.
  • Able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats and present information appropriately based on the target audience.
  • Attentive to details with ability to translate into the “big” picture.
  • Regularly and proactively communicates work progress, concerns, and questions in an open and forthright manner.
  • Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

STARTING SALARY
