Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Provides financial support to property operating departments and property finance in reporting accurate financial information, conducting financial analysis, and assisting with special projects. Supports the preparation of timely and accurate property financial statements in a centralized environment, and supervises, trains, and guides staff accountants. Ensures accounting records comply with GAAP and company policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze, review, and post standard recurring journal entries prepared by staff accountants; coach and recommend corrections as needed.
Review and approve account reconciliations; analyze accounts and recommend resolutions for reconciling items.
Provide training, supervision, and input on performance reviews for staff accountants.
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports for management, auditors, regulatory agencies, and financial institutions.
Assist managers in interpreting departmental financial statements and ensuring accurate information for decision-making.
Support internal, external, and regulatory auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Identify inconsistencies in accounting treatments across properties; recommend and implement standardization for accurate cross-property analysis.
Communicate and coordinate with property accounting teams to ensure intercompany accounts are balanced and reconciled.
Prepare, review, and submit tax filings.
Perform general accounting duties and other special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Knowledge of GAAP and related statutory requirements required.
Two (2) to three (3) years of experience as a staff accountant in a casino finance department preferred.
Strong supervisory skills, including training, reviewing, and problem resolution.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
Ability to handle guest and employee interactions professionally and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
Capable of presenting information and responding to questions from managers, employees, and guests.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; quick to learn new processes and systems.
Able to work independently, identify problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Direct supervision of assigned accounting staff.
Responsible for staff development, training, and performance management.
Evaluates team members and provides constructive feedback.
Establishes work procedures and expedites workflow.
Handles employee discipline, coaching, and counseling as needed.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, interpret, and communicate in English (both verbally and in writing).
Must understand and follow written documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
Capable of handling problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.
