ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Responsible for directing the overall operations and staff of the Special Events department.  Develops, implements and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies to maximize volume and market share; investigates potential opportunities for incremental revenue.
  • Ensures that scheduling is done in an effective and efficient manner to ensure coverage at peak time to support customers and events, while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives and achieving guest satisfaction.
  • Responsible for preparing, monitoring and adhering to budgets and ensuring compliance to departmental budget initiatives. Reports budget concerns / deviations to the Executive Management / GM. Ensure effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
  • Responsible for the development of all property Special Events & Promotions, from conception to implementation, to include slot tournaments, brand promotions, drawings and VIP events.
  • Provides oversight of media used to communicate current and upcoming promotional efforts for the guests, team members and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares prize schedules for events, in accordance with event budget
  • Coordinates ordering of all gifts, décor, prizes and collateral material needed for events.
  • Prepares various reports to assist in post event analysis and compiles monthly budget forecast.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of all current and upcoming promotions, events and special offers throughout the property.
  • Maintains exceptional knowledge of the local Las Vegas market and participates in comprehensive competitor shopping program.
  • Vendor coordination, management and negotiation.  Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of all charges and payments relating to vendor efforts.
  • Assists VP Marketing in preparation of marketing activity reports and presentations for executive management.
  • Supports and maintains a consistent property image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.  Ensures customer service standards are followed by all team members and addresses issues as they arise.  Responsible for the overall achievement of department customer service goals.    
  • Availability for evening, weekend and holiday work is required.
  • Responsible for ensuring the compliance with all regulatory compliance within area of responsibility and reporting potential issues to Executive Management / GM.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                    

This job will have supervisory responsibilities.

Responsible for staff development and training programs.

  • Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.
  • Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regards to performance.
  • Determines recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs.
  • Determines work procedures and expedites workflow.
  • Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, finance or related area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of casino, analysis, strategy, and /or marketing experience with proven success exhibited in marketing, advertising, database marketing, promotions and special events.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical proficiency and knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Outlook).
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills; strong client interface and presentation skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive toward results.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
