Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. WE LOVE OUR WORK.

  • Directly supervises 5 to 10 employees in the Purchasing and Warehouse departments. 
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. -
  • Reviews requisitions. -
  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. -
  • Oversees layout and activities of one on-site and one off-site warehouse. -
  • Ensures OSHA compliance within the Purchasing and Warehouse departments. -
  • Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. - Estimates values according to knowledge of market price. - Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid. -
  • Prepares purchase orders or bid requests. -
  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. -
  • Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. -
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. - Expedites delivery of goods to users through Warehouse staff.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year College or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. -
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  -
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  -
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. -
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. -
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. -
  • Must qualify for licensing with the West Virginia Racing Commission.
