ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

 

  •  

    Assist in the daily leadership and execution of banquet, catering, conference, and special event operations to ensure exceptional guest service and operational excellence.
  • Review and execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring all event requirements, room setups, staffing plans, equipment needs, and service details are properly communicated and delivered.
  • Oversee event setup, service, and breakdown activities, ensuring functions are executed according to established standards and client expectations.
  • Act as the manager on duty for assigned events, providing floor leadership, directing team members, resolving operational challenges, and responding to guest concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and develop banquet team members while promoting a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.
  • Ensure banquet facilities, equipment, storage areas, and service stations are maintained in a clean, organized, safe, and guest-ready condition.
  • Partner with Culinary, Beverage, Hotel, Sales, and other operational departments to ensure seamless event execution and guest satisfaction.
  • Assist with scheduling, staffing, inventory controls, and other departmental administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management initiatives for banquet team members.
  • Provide leadership support to other Food & Beverage outlets, special events, and resort operations as business levels dictate, including restaurants, bars, quick-service outlets, VIP experiences, festivals, and race-day activations during periods of reduced banquet activity.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety standards, sanitation requirements, and responsible alcohol service practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Associates degree (A.A.) from an accredited college or university; or minimum of two years previous supervisory experience; or combination of education and experience combined.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a full service or high-volume restaurant preferred.
  • Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook programs.
  • Excellent motivational, communication and customer service skills required.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                    

This job has supervisory responsibilities.

 

  • Responsible for staff development and training programs.
  • Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.
  • Evaluates team members within department and delivers constructive feedback to employees in regards to performance.
  • Determines recommendation for staffing (including interviewing and hiring) and scheduling (planning, assigning and directing work) to meet business needs.
  • Determines work procedures and expedites workflow.
  • Responsible for employee performance (disciplining, coaching, counseling).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in in English may also be required.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

For every year of employment, Employee must:

  1. Obtain and maintain a license by the WV Racing Commission and/or WV Lottery as may be required for this position.
  2. Successfully complete and maintain certification in the Beverage Service Program (TIPS and TOPS) as may be required for this position.
  3. Obtain and maintain proper Food Handler Certification.
  4. Be ServSafe Certified in accordance with WV Health Code Regulations.
  5. Possess a valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Penn National Gaming’s auto insurance carrier.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
